DeLonghi Magnifica coffee machine service at AGD Group

The DeLonghi Magnifica range is the most popular line of automatic coffee machines on the Polish market. Magnifica S, Magnifica Evo and Magnifica Start attract customers with a compact size, simple controls and a reasonable price — which is why they are the machines we repair most often. At the AGD Group workshop in Lodz we have been servicing every model in this range since 2015.

DeLonghi Magnifica models we service

  • DeLonghi Magnifica S ECAM 22.110.B / 22.110.SB — the most popular model in Poland; the most common faults are a general alarm, a worn brewing-unit drive and problems with the ceramic grinder,
  • DeLonghi Magnifica S ECAM 22.360.B — the version with the automatic LatteCrema milk system; extra problems with frothing and blocked milk tubes,
  • DeLonghi Magnifica S ECAM 21.117.B — a budget version with a dial instead of buttons; typical NTC temperature sensor faults,
  • DeLonghi Magnifica Evo ECAM 292.81.B — the new generation with a color touchscreen; problems with the brewing-unit drive and the software,
  • DeLonghi Magnifica Start ECAM 220.21.B — an entry-level model with basic functions, and simpler to repair,
  • DeLonghi Magnifica S Smart ECAM 250.31.SB — the version with Bluetooth and the DeLonghi Coffee Link mobile app.

Most common faults on the Magnifica range

Based on our data from the last 2 years, these are the problems that show up most often on Magnifica machines:

1. General Alarm

Flashing indicator lights or a “General Alarm” message — this is by far the most common fault on the ECAM 22.110. It can be caused by a failed NTC temperature sensor (the most common reason), a blown thermal fuse on the boiler, or a main board failure. Sometimes replacing the sensor for about 120 PLN is enough — there is no need to replace the whole electronics straight away.

2. Grinder problem — coffee ground too finely

Loud grinding, no grinding at all, uneven grinding, or a “Ground too fine” message. It shows up mainly on the ECAM 22.110 after 2–3 years — the worn ceramic burrs need replacing. You can tell when the coffee flows very slowly or not at all, and the grounds are wet and mushy. Replacing the burrs costs about 160 PLN, and they work like new.

3. The machine does not pour coffee

The pump is running (you can hear it humming), but no coffee comes out, or it only drips. The usual cause is a thermoblock clogged with limescale, a blocked flow meter (turbine), or a failed solenoid valve. Regular descaling prevents 80% of these faults.

4. Water leak

Water under the machine after brewing, or while it is running, usually means worn brewing-unit seals (O-rings — replacement from 120 PLN), a cracked grounds container, or a leaking thermoblock. On the Magnifica S the brewing-unit seals are a wear part — it is worth replacing them preventively every 2–3 years.

5. Jammed brewing unit

The brewing unit will not seat, cannot be removed, or the machine shows “Infuser error”. The usual cause is a worn drive (a plastic gearbox) or corroded guide rails — a typical problem after 3–5 years without regular cleaning.

6. Milk frothing problem

This affects models with LatteCrema (ECAM 22.360, ECAM 292.81). There is no foam, milk is not drawn from the container, or the milk system leaks. The usual cause is milk tubes blocked by milk stone — rinsing after every use is enough to prevent it.

Can you repair a Magnifica yourself?

DeLonghi does not recommend servicing these machines yourself. You should still do the basic maintenance regularly:

  • Wash the brewing unit under running water every week,
  • Descale every 2–3 months (or when the message appears),
  • Grease the brewing-unit seals with silicone grease every 2–3 months,
  • Clean the milk system after every use (LatteCrema models),
  • Reset the machine (unplug it for 10–15 minutes) for minor errors.

For more serious faults — a general alarm, a jammed brewing unit or a leak — you need a professional diagnosis. Trying to repair the electronics or replace the drive yourself usually makes the problem worse.

Why is a Magnifica worth repairing?

A DeLonghi Magnifica is a machine that is well worth repairing:

  • Most repairs cost from 150 PLN,
  • A new machine in this class costs from 1500 PLN,
  • The average repair at AGD Group costs about 250 PLN (10–17% of the price of a new one),
  • Spare parts are easy to get — both original parts and proven alternatives,
  • The design allows repeated repairs — a Magnifica that is serviced properly usually lasts 8–12 years.

How do you send a Magnifica to the workshop?

AGD Group serves customers from all over Poland — Warsaw, Krakow, Wroclaw, Poznan, Gdansk, Katowice, Szczecin and every other city:

  1. Call 459 568 444 or send a request through the form on the website.
  2. Pack the machine in the original box or a carton with padding (polystyrene, bubble wrap) — the machine weighs about 9 kg, and the packaging has to hold that weight safely.
  3. Send the parcel by courier to: al. Wlokniarzy 234A, 90-556 Lodz.
  4. Diagnosis takes 1–2 working days. You then receive an exact quote with a description of the fault and photos.
  5. If you accept the quote, we repair the machine and send it back within 1–3 working days.

Return shipping costs 20 PLN. The whole process usually takes 3–7 working days.

Repair warranty

Every repair is covered by a warranty of up to 12 months. We fit original DeLonghi spare parts or proven first-class alternatives. If the fault comes back under warranty, we repair it free of charge.

How do you reset a DeLonghi Magnifica?

A simple reset sometimes clears minor errors:

  1. Switch the machine off with the power button.
  2. Unplug the power cable from the socket.
  3. Wait 10–15 minutes.
  4. Plug the cable back in and switch the machine on.

Restoring the factory settings clears the drink settings you have changed. Go to Menu → Settings → Restore factory settings. Important: resetting the settings does not remove hardware faults. An alarm after a reset means a fault that needs the workshop.
