What does the coffee grounds container do in a coffee machine?
The coffee grounds container is one of the parts of every automatic coffee machine. Used coffee grounds go into it after every brew. It is designed to hold only a specific amount of waste produced by the machine. Empty it regularly. On all models, regardless of the manufacturer, the container is fully removable, which makes it easy to wash under water. It is a pity to throw the used grounds away, so we recommend our article, which suggests what you can do with them.
What to do when water appears in the coffee grounds container?
A leak or a minor fault can damage the coffee machine. If you notice water starting to collect in the used grounds container, that is a sign to deal with the problem as soon as possible. There are several common causes:
- worn seals - old seals, or seals that have not been maintained for a long time, can crack; once you find a worn seal, replace it with a new one,
- fault in the valve that supplies water to the brew group - this may mean the valve has failed completely, or only that the seal fitted on it is faulty,
- problems with the brew group - a leak may have developed, so water has entered the grounds container. Remove the brew group and rinse it thoroughly under water, then check the condition of its seals and the piston.
