What does the coffee machine pump do?
The pump in a coffee machine is a key component for brewing coffee. Its main job is generating the correct pressure, which extracts the essence from ground coffee beans. The right pressure gives the drink a full flavor and a smooth texture. A pump can have different parameters, such as pressure or power, so it can be matched to different preferences. Make sure you select the correct pressure pump for your coffee machine. Our model-matching tool will help you make the right choice.
Effects of a damaged coffee machine pump
After years of use and heavy operation, coffee machine parts such as the pump can start to lose their performance. How can you tell?
- coffee does not flow from the machine: you select a coffee and hear the grinder running, but no drink comes out of the spout. There is then a high risk that the pressure pump is damaged, so brewing does not start and dry grounds collect in the waste container,
- the machine runs loudly: this can indicate that the pump is having trouble pumping. Weak pumping, or no pumping at all, is a clear sign that the pump may be damaged,
- the machine does not brew coffee and only starts cleaning: the fault is likely the pump, which is not supplying water. This prevents the coffee from brewing correctly.
