A water filter is the most important consumable accessory for a coffee machine. Water hardness in Łódź is 250–350 mg/l CaCO₃ — without a filter, limescale builds up in the thermoblock and blocks water flow within 2–3 months. It is the number-one cause of coffee machine failures.

What does water filtration give you?

The filter reduces scale by 85–90%, removes chlorine and metallic taste. Results: better coffee extraction (fuller taste, richer crema), no need to descale every month, thermoblock lasts up to 5× longer. Replacing the filter every 2 months costs PLN 25–45 — repairing a scaled thermoblock: PLN 300–500.
